Abstract
|
|
|
Eight cases of gastric leiomyomas and seven cases of gastric leiomyosarcomas were studied by ultrasound and compared one with the other.
The results were as follows:
1. The sizes of 7 gastric leiomyomas were smaller than 8 cm in diameter, but the sizes of 6 gastric leiomyosarcomas were larger.
2. The echogenicity of mass compared with liver parenchyme was mainly hypoechoic in gastric leiomyoma, but heterogeneous in gastric leiomyosarcoma.
3. The growth pattern of tumor was somewhat endogastric in gastric leiomyoma, but mostly exophytic in gastric leiomyosarcoma.
4. The outer margin of tumor was smooth in gastric leiomyoma, but irregular in gastric leiomyosarcoma.
5. Tumor necrosis was not seen in gastric leiomyoma except one, but it was found in 4 cases of gastric leiomyosarcoma.
6. Metastasis was only seen in 3 cases of gastric leiomyosarcomas.
